Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

HTMA testing

Uncover your body’s mineral balance and hidden toxic load

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a simple, non-invasive screening tool that measures the levels and ratios of essential minerals and toxic metals found in a small hair sample.

Unlike blood tests that reflect only a moment in time, HTMA provides a long-term view of what’s being stored in your tissues — offering insights into your body’s metabolic activity, stress response, and overall mineral balance.

Your hair sample is analysed using world-class laboratory technology that measures even the tiniest traces of minerals and metals — down to parts per million (ppm) and parts per billion (ppb).

Each sample is carefully prepared using advanced microwave technology that ensures even heating, minimal contamination, and consistent accuracy from start to finish.

This high-level precision means your report truly reflects your body’s unique mineral balance — providing clear, trustworthy insights to guide your personalised wellness plan.

What HTMA Reveals

HTMA offers a unique window into your body’s chemistry, helping to identify:

  • Nutrient imbalances and mineral deficiencies

  • Hidden toxic metals such as mercury, lead, arsenic or cadmium

  • Immune system function

  • Mental health impacts

  • Blood sugar regulation

  • Digestive capacity

  • Patterns related to reproductive hormones, adrenal and thyroid function

  • Metabolic rate tendencies (slow or fast metaboliser)

  • How your body is adapting to diet, environment, and emotional load

These patterns help guide personalised nutritional, detoxification, and lifestyle strategies for optimal wellbeing.

Why choose HTMA?

  • Provides a deeper understanding of long-term mineral trends

  • Non-invasive, easy, and affordable

  • Offers guidance for targeted nutrition and supplement support

  • Supports detoxification and stress recovery programs

  • Complements functional and naturopathic testing methods

When interpreted in context by your practitioner, HTMA can illuminate the underlying contributors to fatigue, mood imbalance, hormonal symptoms, or slow progress with other therapies.

How it works?

1. Order your test kit
We post your HTMA collection kit directly to you, with simple step-by-step instructions.

2. Collect your sample
Cut a small amount of clean, untreated hair (from the root end, close to the scalp). Only around 1 teaspoon is required.

3. Send to the laboratory
Place your sample in the provided envelope and send it to our partnered laboratory for analysis (InterClinical Laboratories, Australia).

4. Receive your results
Within approximately 2–4 weeks, you’ll receive a detailed report outlining your mineral and metal levels.

5. Personalised interpretation
Your practitioner will interpret your results in the context of your overall health picture, providing tailored recommendations for nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A comprehensive mineral report detailing 30+ minerals and toxic metals

  • Personalised insights explaining what these trends may mean for your health

  • A written summary and recommendations specific to your goals

Yes. It’s completely non-invasive — only a sample of untreated hair from the nape is required.

No. HTMA is not a diagnostic test, but a screening tool that helps identify patterns and guide wellness interventions.

You will be provided with an envelope that includes instructions on how to weigh an amount of hair of approximately 0.125 grams.  This is equivalent to approximately one full TEASPOON of hair.

HTMA requires clean and untreated hair as chemical treatments can alter trace element levels.

We recommend waiting 6-12 weeks after getting hair coloured / treated to take a sample of untreated hair.

Pubic hair is acceptable for monitoring of toxic elements if head hair is unavailable.

In general, every 3–6 months is ideal to track changes and monitor progress.

HTMA is a screening tool used to support nutritional and wellness assessment. It is not intended to diagnose or treat disease, and results should be interpreted in conjunction with your practitioner and relevant medical care.
